Decades have passed for Maya Davis-Armstrong since the starship Yesterday returned to the present from ancient Earth. The Interstellar Expeditionary Force has continued to explore the galaxy. When Captain Jo Ryder locates the home worlds of the Onaki, the advanced alien race that created humans, Jo finds only abandoned ruins. But Maya takes only a passing interest in the discovery. On sabbatical from the IEF, she is focused on spending time with her husband and in no hurry to fill the Fleet Admiral position.

But everything changes when a group of scientists achieve the breakthrough of all breakthroughs. Moments after they create living DNA from inanimate matter, the Onaki appear and seize control of every human and piece of technology in the Interstellar Alliance.

Maya's husband and son die senselessly in the takeover. Vowing to avenge her family, Maya takes command of Eternity, a prototype ship capable of traveling anywhere or any when, and fights to protect the scientists and their game-changing discovery.

Hunted by the Onaki, Maya travels to different times and timelines to learn the source of these godlike beings' omnipotence. Somehow, she must prevent them from collapsing the multiverse and wiping out all other sentient life. But what if saving humankind requires sacrificing everything in existence?
